ABOUT THE RANCH

Ranching on the Crazy PThe Crazy 'P' Ranch is a prospect for many kinds of ranching endeavors. The property has both irrigated meadows and rangelands suitable to cattle, horses, or simply a very comfortable, private, and beautiful place to live. Broad views of the Big Horn Mountains are seen from most points on the ranch.

Ranch Country on the Crazy PAcreage: The Crazy 'P' Ranch consists of approximately 1,087 acres-deeded and 200 acres of State & Federal (BLM) lease.

Crazy P Ranch Grazing LandLivestock Operations:  The Ranch benefits from a recent water development project that included the installation of over 7 miles of underground pipeline and 13 drinking tanks.  Water for the existing stock water system will be provided to the Crazy 'P' Ranch by a water use agreement.  In recent years, the ranching operations have been leased to neighboring ranchers.  Grass-alfalfa hay and small grains are produced on the ranch.

Hay Harvest on the Crazy PIrrigation:  Roughly 80 acres of the ranch are irrigated for the production of hay and small grains.  The meadows and fields are flood irrigated using water sourced from Muddy Creek and Muddy Guard Reservoir #1.  The Ranch owns shares in the North Fork Irrigation District to use water from the reservoir.   Several water conveyance ditches will require improvement.

WILDLIFE and NATURAL RESOURCES

Deer on the Crazy PMule deer, whitetail deer and antelope are abundant on the Crazy 'P' Ranch.  Excellent and diverse habitat resources provides food and shelter throughout the entire year.  In the summer the irrigated meadows are a strong attractant for birds and wildlife providing great viewing opportunities.   The riparian habitat along Muddy Creek provides shelter and foodstuffs to pheasants and deer.

The Crazy P Ranch is in Hunt Area 30 for deer and Hunt Area 20 for antelope, both General License hunt areas.  Big game hunting has been used both as a tool to manage the deer and antelope populations, but also as a source of income to the ranch.   The current owner of the property has held a Wyoming Game Bird Farm license and has offered fee-based pheasant hunting on the ranch.  The Crazy 'P' and surrounding ranches provide excellent upland game bird habitat.

Antelope on the Crazy PThe perennial stream called Muddy Creek flows through the entire length of the ranch and provides wildlife habitat, livestock water and shelter, in addition to the simple appreciation of live water.  In recent years the current owner of the ranch partnered with the local Natural Resources and Conservation District office to undertake a stream restoration plan.  Great accomplishments were made in improving the quality of the riparian habitat.  The Ranch remains enrolled in a riparian-based Conservation Reserve Program administered by the USDA.  Under the program, the Ranch has fenced out the riparian habitat except for planned water gaps for livestock drinking.  The Ranch receives a small annual payment for its participation in the program.

 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

In addition to the ranch, a deep artesian well that has been developed for irrigation and bulk water sales and additional acres are also available as Crazy Woman Water Company. Please see the Crazy Woman Water listing on our website.
