The surrounding area abounds in recreational opportunities – the southern entrance to Yellowstone National Park and the northern entrance to Teton National Park are only an hour’s drive away.  Whether fishing the “blue ribbon” Wind River or multiple surrounding mountain lakes within nearby Shoshone National Forest, or visiting numerous “dude” ranches or the National Bighorn Sheep Interpretive Center and viewing the largest herd of wintering Bighorn sheep, the Dubois area is a fascinating area with much to offer.

THE HISTORIC HOME

The Wild Rose Ranch Log Home offers 5,400 sq. ft. of comfortable country living. The main level of the home contains the master bedroom/bath plus 3 other bedrooms & 3 bathrooms, a large living room with wood stove/fireplace, a den-office area with a Soap-stone wood stove, kitchen and family-style dining area, and a large screened-in covered porch. There are 2 bedrooms & a bathroom in the loft area and 1 bedroom, 1 bath, a laundry room and large storage area in the full finished basement.  In addition to the wood-sourced heat, the home is also equipped with electric baseboard and electric thermal storage radiant heating.  The master bedroom bath and dressing area were added by members of the Disney family in 1969; subsequent owners added the living room and detached garage in 1979.

Other building improvements on the property include: a 1,216 sq. ft. log barn with loft; 1,632 sq. ft. metal shop building; 1,152 sq. ft. log 3-car garage; and a chicken coop.  All are in excellent condition.

ABOUT THE PROPERTY

This scenic and secluded 20+-acre property features 1,000 feet of frontage along the Wind River.  Together with a spring-fed pond and gravity-flow spring water, these sources provide abundant water and riparian habitat for livestock and wildlife.  Moose, deer, elk and numerous small game animals share this natural preserve.

Panoramic views of the magnificent Ramshorn Peak, Big Warm Springs Creek canyon and foothill vistas are unobstructed from all aspects of the beautiful valley in which the property is situated.  The private, park-like setting with mature spruce, cottonwood and aspen trees, a small, spring-fed pond and manicured lawn around the log home make up the perfect setting for enjoying quiet country living in the midst of nature’s beauty.

The Wild Rose Ranch is the ideal place for a hobby-type ranch.  The present owners enjoy raising goats, chickens and horses.  There is also a large garden area.  The irrigated pastures are framed by wild rose bushes; hence, the name for the ranch.

WATER RIGHTS

Irrigation water is supplied through the Shapo ditch, original Wyoming adjudication #3126, April 18, 1901, of 0.38 CFS for 28 acres; with an additional appropriation #6268 Enl., July 13, 1966 of 1.16 CFS for 81.2 acres.  Gravity flow domestic water is provided from the Carey Spring, which is located approximately 1/4 mile west of the ranch.  The spring holds Wyoming Permit #23469, July 24, 1970 for 0.113 CFS (10± GPM).   The owners have ½ interest in the one acre where the spring is located.  The pond/reservoir is permit #13003 is for 0.48 acre-feet and is supplied by alluvial flow of the Big Wind River and Carey Spring.
